Sunrise on the Dunes

I was very fortunate to be out on the links this morning and wanted to give you a quick update on the condition and playability of our Dunes Course, located at the La Quinta Resort and Club, in the heart of downtown La Quinta.

We were one of the first groups off this morning, so my first observation was what a stunning and cool morning! If you’re going to play a lot of golf in the desert, do it early!  It was right at 80 degrees when we teed off and when we finished it was still less than 90 degrees!

The golf course went through summer maintenancea few weeks back including aerification, and I have to say, as a finicky golfer who really likes great conditions, I found them this morning. Bravo to Glenn Miller – course superintendent and his staff, who over see the Dunes and Mountain courses here at the resort.

The greens were second to none. I kept walking around and looking at them because they were virtually free of any blemishes, allowing the rolling of our putts to be like carpet!  And the speed I would guess was right in the 10 range, not too fast, but just right!

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. The golf course is in awesome condition and getting out early allows you to take advantage of the cooler desert mornings.

I hope you’ll join us. Pete Dye remember is a Hall of Fame Course Designer, and this jewel is no exception and a testament to his great work!
